Meth Detection Inspections

Why you need to conduct a meth test

Methamphetamine — meth, ice, crystal meth — has a rapidly increasing presence in Australia. Even a single use or small-scale production can contaminate a property, and the risks aren't obvious.

  • Resilient Residue — contamination can linger on surfaces for extended periods.
  • Invisible Threat — odourless and invisible; you can't rely on your senses to detect it.
  • Health Risks — respiratory issues, skin irritation and long-term neurological damage.
  • Property Devaluation — a contaminated property can be difficult to sell or rent.
  • Legal Implications — failing to test can create legal complications if occupants are later affected.
  • Hidden Manufacturing — labs can be concealed in unsuspecting homes and rental properties.

Who needs it

Who generally needs meth testing?

  • Pre-Purchase — buying a property and suspect past meth use? Test before you sign.
  • Homeowners — suspect exposure in your own home? Get it tested for safety and reassurance.
  • Landlords — after tenants leave, a rapid room test ensures a clean, safe property for the next occupants.
  • Renters — moving in? Have the property tested for a safe, contamination-free home.
  • Property Managers — between tenants, testing protects incoming occupants from cleanup costs.

We're accredited and insured to conduct these tests — don't risk doing it yourself.

Presumptive meth screening test kit
Our method

How we test for meth

We use advanced presumptive screening tests (per Section 6.5 of the Australian Voluntary Code of Practice, 2019) that deliver fast, reliable initial results. We sample up to 10 high-risk areas identified through training and industry knowledge, including:

  • Areas of high air flow — range hoods, fans, doorways and windows.
  • Locations high up in rooms, and areas with electrical currents.
  • Locations less likely to have been cleaned, or with visible staining.

A positive result indicates contamination above the investigation level and triggers a detailed assessment. A negative result indicates methamphetamine isn't present at or above that level. Either way, you'll receive a full report with photos and recommendations.
