Meth (Methamphetamine) Inspections

Why you need to conduct a meth test

Methamphetamine, colloquially known as meth, ice, or crystal meth, is an illicit drug with a rapidly increasing presence in Australia.

Resilient Residue: Methamphetamine residue is incredibly resilient. Even a single use or small-scale production can contaminate surfaces and linger for extended periods.

Invisible Threat: This residue is both odourless and invisible to the naked eye. You can’t rely on your senses to detect its presence.

Health Risks: Exposure to methamphetamine residue can lead to severe health problems, including respiratory issues, skin irritation, and long-term neurological damage.

Property Devaluation: A property found to be meth-contaminated can experience significant devaluation, making it difficult to sell or rent.

Legal Implications: Failure to test for meth contamination can result in legal complications, especially if future occupants experience health issues.

Hidden Manufacturing: Meth labs can be concealed in unsuspecting places, from residential homes to rental properties. You might not even be aware of their presence.

Don’t take chances with the safety and value of your property – a meth test could reveal hidden dangers that you can’t afford to ignore.

Who generally needs meth testing on their property?

Pre-purchase: If you’re buying a property and suspect meth use, a pre-purchase test ensures peace of mind before signing the contract.

Homeowners: If you suspect meth exposure in your home, get it tested for safety and reassurance.

Landlords: After tenants leave, invest in a rapid room test to ensure a clean and safe property for the next occupants.

Renters: When renting a property, have it tested for a safe and contamination-free new home.

Property Managers: Between tenants, testing is essential in both commercial and residential settings, protecting incoming tenants from cleaning costs.

Please note, we are accredited and insured to conduct these tests. Don’t risk conducting these tests on your own – leave it to the professionals.

How we test for meth – Presumptive Screening method (6.5 of the Australian Voluntary Code of Practice, 2019)

We utilise advanced presumptive screening tests that deliver quick results. These tests provide an immediate answer regarding the potential presence of methamphetamine contamination above specific reporting/target levels. They are swift, efficient, and offer an initial assessment.

We sample 10 high risk are where residue is likely to be found based on our training and industry knowledge, potentially including:

– Areas of high air flow such as range hoods, fans, doorways and windows
– Location high up in rooms
– Locations with electrical currents
– Locations less likely to have been cleaned
– Locations with visible staining

A positive result from such a test would indicate the presence of methamphetamine

at a level above the investigation level. The actual level that may be present cannot

be determined from such sampling techniques, however a positive result would

trigger the need to undertake a detailed assessment.

A negative result from such a test(s) would indicate that methamphetamine is not

present at a level at or exceeding the investigation level.

A detailed report containing the findings including pictures will then be sent to you, along with any recommendations.
